Online access to local aged care data

Tasmanian families and businesses are set to benefit from a user-friendly website that provides interactive access to information on local aged care services and usage.

Liberal Senator for Tasmania Stephen Parry said the Institute of Health and Welfare site breaks down each of the 73 aged care zones across Australia, including three zones in Tasmania.

“The Federal Government is committed to making life easier for older Tasmanians, local businesses and community organisations,” Senator Parry said.

“If you’re an individual or family looking for aged care information, or a company looking to develop care services, GEN is a new-generation internet tool providing detailed statistical information.

“It will also benefit students, researchers and local governments, looking at aged care data.

“The site, using clear language and infographics that can be customised, has been created using extensive databases, including ABS and census data, collected from regional and metropolitan centres.”
